The Principle of It All

The conductor offered a choice: buy a ticket from him and swallow the three dollar surcharge or get off the train, buy a ticket at the station kiosk and wait for the next one.

The option not available: pay regular price while retaining my current seat.

The nerve of this publicly funded transit system and its inflexible employees and the questionable legality surrounding its predatory pricing model.

Call me cheap and stubborn. My wife does. I call it understanding value and having principles.

Which is why I’m back on the platform.
