The twins were desperate.
Mother was ill, and there was no money for a doctor. But Jack had an idea: sell the family cow for a handful of magic beans. Maybe that would cure her.
Deal done, Jack took half the beans and sprinted off. Joan was more cautious. She went to her room and potted what was left.
Moments later, a giant beanstalk burst through her bedroom ceiling while filling her room with dense foliage.
Joan dove underneath her bed and buried her head in her hands. What a disaster!
Hopefully Jack was having better luck with his half.
