The Legend of the Old Oak Tree

It happened one summer many moons ago.

Every Sunday afternoon a young boy would vanish. Like clockwork. Then the next day their name would magically appear, freshly carved into the old oak tree on the edge of town.

Authorities were clueless.

Eventually, a young woman turned herself in. Before they sent Josphine McHenry away, she was asked only one question:

“Why did you lure these boys to their death?”

She never gave an answer.

Now every June 21st when you gaze at the old oak tree at night, the name of each missing boy will glow under the pale moonlight.
