All he wanted was some quality time with his kid. A rare occurrence since that last family court ruling. So Sam pulled out all the stops: pancakes from scratch, bacon, hash browns. Even the orange juice was fresh squeezed.
But time slipped away as everything took longer than expected. Suddenly the two were running late.
Sam spotted the school bus speeding off into the distance. He looked over at his son who was still eating, still in his pajamas.
“Your mom’s not gonna be happy about this,” he said.
