The Cursed Commode

“Don’t put it in the toilet,” her mother used to tell her. “You’ll back everything up again and I’m not calling the plumber this time.”

But that was years ago. Now she lived in her own apartment. All plumbing issues were her landlord’s problem, not hers.

So, she tossed it into the toilet and flushed.

Pipes started rumbling. Porcelain began shaking.  Then, the inexplicable: an otherworldly, bloodcurdling shriek as a torrent of water exploded from the bowl, soaking the entire bathroom.

She stood drenched, looking at the offending toilet. Consider the cycle broken, she thought.

Consider this a lesson learned.
