A Winter Warning

The car sat in the driveway, motor running. Odd. His wife had the only other set of keys, and she was fast asleep.

Richard stomped through the heavy snow over to the driver’s side door. Locked. He then dragged his forearm across the front windshield, wiping away a mound of fresh powder.

He peered into the car’s interior. Complete darkness. Until it wasn’t. Eyelids snapped open revealing a pair of neon yellow eyes.

Human, animal, maybe something else… but Richard had no interest in finding out.

It was twenty feet back to the house.

He didn’t even make it halfway.
