A night away. A well-deserved one. She’d been doing nothing but cleaning and cooking and raising their adorable little boy.
Alone.
It was more than she bargained for. The deal they had was very clear.
Speaking of the boy, she heard him in the living room throwing his umpteenth tantum of the day. Her head throbbed. What was it now? Were his nuggets too hot… his milk too cold… his cheese stick too mushy?
She stared at her overnight bag. It bulged at the sides and the zipper wouldn’t close.
One night away. But she knew that was a lie.
