Josh sprinted down the street, arms pumping, breath ragged.
He had the hulking green garbage truck in his sights. Finally.
Less than a hundred yards away, barreling down Blackburn Road, clueless as to what was trapped in its hopper.
It had started out as a simple game of hide-and-seek. The boy was clever, trying to outsmart dear old dad. So he held his nose and into the plastic outdoor bin he went.
But it was garbage day – the truck had come and gone before anyone realized.
Playtime turned complete nightmare.
Josh pushed even harder.
He wasn’t too late.
Not yet.
