Miles burst through the flimsy plastic tape, a smiling sweaty mess. First place at the Lake Shore Fun Run was his and no one was surprised.

He wasn’t like these other lazy teenagers. He trained, ate right, even researched ways to make his uniform more aerodynamic. Victory was expected.

Yet this next part – the supposed best part – was anything but…

They were not cheering or clapping or celebrating his success. Instead, the gathered crowd laughed and mocked and pointed at him in utter embarrassment.
