Fade Out

I was running out of breath.

The room had suddenly become cloudy. A thick greenish, yellowish haze. I couldn’t tell for sure because my eyes were burning. I couldn’t see a damn thing.

I didn’t know how they found me. Or what they were doing to me. I just knew they were killing me. Slowly.

I clawed at my throat. Sweat poured down my face. My head pounded.

I dropped to my knees. I couldn’t breathe now.

Take the jewels. Take the cash. They could take it all back.

I didn’t want any of it anymore.

I just wanted air.
