The Road Back

Tears. Rolling down her rosy cheeks with abandon.

She promised herself she wouldn’t cry but now laughed at the seemingly impossible task. She just watched him cross the finish line with a huge smile on his face – six months after a near fatal heart attack. Of course, there would be emotions.

But there were tough times too, times when she pushed him hard. To exercise, to eat right and to put down the cigarettes. All for his own good.

In the end, she was proud of what he had accomplished.

And she had every right to let those tears flow.
