You won’t find kids in costumes or brightly lit houses handing out fistfuls of candy on this side of town. The wounds are still fresh; the air of unease still hangs heavy.
It was ten years ago tonight when five kids – good, well-behaved kids still in their homemade Halloween costumes – sped off into the night on their secondhand bikes looking for new streets to plunder.
But the kids never returned.
Days later, a search party discovered their mangled bikes and their ragged costumes at the bottom of a ravine nearly two miles away.
As for the bodies… they’re still looking.
