Someday Never Comes

“Cut!” the director roared, his voice echoing through the middle school auditorium.

Opening night was less than two weeks away and his lead, his Romeo, hadn’t memorized line one. His Juliet, on the other hand, had her part and everyone else’s down cold.

If only they could all be like her…

But he had strict instructions from the principal. The cast needed to be half human, half humanoid. No exceptions.

“Okay, let’s try it again. From the top…” the director said, massaging his graying temples.

Someday all his actors will be wires and circuits.

But someday won’t come soon enough.
