Unconventional. It’s how folks love to describe our relationship, especially behind our backs.
And maybe they’re right… different friends, different interests, and sometimes even different travel plans though we still vacationed together. Call it an unexpected byproduct of getting married later in life.
But after a while, the questioning and the quiet judgment wore us down. We grew tired of explaining and then defending. So, the two of us made a pact: no more showing embarrassment, no more apologizing for being… unusual.
Because we both knew what we had.
And we didn’t give a damn if no one else did.
