Finding the luggage key had been the easy part. Getting the kid alone, that was going to be the real issue.
He toyed with the idea of offering some up milk and a few ginger snaps but decided against it. He was already going to ruin the poor kid’s life, no need to sugarcoat what came next.
So, he opted for the simple, straightforward approach instead.
He loomed over the frail teenager, placed a gentle hand on his narrow shoulder.
“Don’t worry, kiddo. We’ll find it,” he said, caressing the supposed missing key in his jacket pocket.
