Whatever the -ism, the poor kid was getting a raw deal. The admin board knew it, too. But for some reason it didn’t bother them enough to drop the case. Full steam ahead.
However, the board didn’t plan on one of their own standing in the way.
The professor had been around the block, a fixture on this bucolic campus for decades. When he spoke, people paid attention.
And he wasn’t about to see another student who didn’t fit the mold get a one-way ticket out of town.
He had kept his mouth shut before.
