The marketing assistant stood at the head of the table, unfazed by the pushback. In fact, he expected it. That’s how scandalous this idea was.

“You want us to launch a new, yet inferior, formula to create public outrage in order to boost sales of our flagship product?” asked the Head of Marketing.

Other soft drink companies had been closing in for years. And desperate times…   

 “Yes,” the assistant said, the rest of the department holding its breath.

The Marketing Head took another drag of his cigarette and stubbed it out into the ashtray.

“Diabolical,” he said. “I love it.”
