Act Two

For the first time, her eyes were open.

She had lived a remarkable life, witnessed much over the years, but had never had an experience quite like this.

Oysters in the half-shell, browned dover sole and fresh cheese for dessert.

A life, forever changed. And all with the sun still high in the French November sky.

“The skill, the talent. It seems nearly impossible for us mere mortals.”

Her lunch companion wasn’t so sure.

“I could see you doing something exactly like this,” he prodded.

She let out her warm, unmistakable chuckle at the thought.

“Oh Paul, I could never.”
