What happened in that little red school is still local lore. The suspicious fire, the gruesome outcome, the distraught parents. A mystery unsolved.

The first-year teacher saved as many of her students as she could, but it still wasn’t enough. Only half the class survived.

So now Miss Abernathy sits alone, rocking away the daylight hours. A fixed presence in the charred remains of that ill-fated building where her life was changed forever.
